Dave and Busters Complaint – Customer Service Was Horrible and They Don’t Offer Their Own Emailed Coupons!

Earlier this month I received an email from Dave and Busters on January 5th and 14th.  These emails were for a free $10 game play and had expiration dates of January 30, 2011.  I was excited because my girlfriend and I always go to Dave and Busters to have some fun playing the coin games.  I have been going there for a couple years now and never have had faced any problems at all.

Over the years of playing, I have moved up to the level of gold rewards card and have received some amazing rewards (prizes).  I have won a dual Hamilton beach blender, a couple Wii games, and a couple other small prizes.  I enjoy being able to select from a variety of awesome prizes and I believe that is why I go back to Dave and Busters for entertainment.

I decided today that I would go into Dave and Busters to use the free $10 game plays and when I arrived there was 2 African Americas working at the desk.  There were not many people there which is probably because of the story I am about to explain.   As I approached the counter where you get your card powered up, there was a African American couple that were being helped and the woman at the counter were happy as all can be to the customers.

As my girlfriend and I (both Caucasian) were next to approach the desk there attitudes were a complete 180 degrees like day and night.  It was like they didn’t want to help me because we were Caucasian.  I then gave the one woman my 2 free $10 game plays and my printer black cartridge so the barcode wasn’t 100% able to scan but the number under the barcode was clear as can be.  I told her that in the past they have typed in the numbers if the barcode wouldn’t scan.

She told me that it didn’t matter because the numbers were the same on the two coupons so she had to call her manager.  When her manager came over the woman had explained that since the barcodes were the same numbers, they would only be able to use the one coupon.  I had told her that if so I would go out to my car and get the rest of the email to prove that I received 2 emails.

She had told me that she had to go speak to someone else, so we waited for her to do that. As she walked back, one of the women at the counter asked the manager if they were going to be able to do it for us.  She responded rudely “Technically speaking No, but I guess we will do it”.  I couldn’t get over how rude the manager was to us.  She swung the register screen around because she couldn’t void what the employee had entered.

She was rude as hell and I don’t think I will be returning to Dave and Busters, not even if they give me any more free game plays in my email.  I feel that the corporate office needs to go on Under Cover Boss to see how horrible their employees really are.  They may be able to see why their sales are getting lower if only they looked closer at the people they are hiring!

First of my all my question is why not name names ? Don’t the employees wear name tags ? If you felt that bad why not tell a manager right then and there ? I am not defending that place by a longshot but just wondering. I personally think the place is a dump. I also feel that the management staff there is deplorable. The food is not the best and the service from some is less that questionable at best. I do not frequent that place any longer after seeing a some mice scurrying around the place.

I recently got the wii game system and tried to return the unopened system within the 30 day return policy and they will not honor their return policy! I went in this evening and a woman manager opened the box and checked out the packageing and then called another manager to come over. He just looked at the box and said “I can’t take it back because it was opened” NO SHIT idiot, the female manager just opened it! I got the wii and changed my mind. I never even opened the box and wanted the play station 3 instead. So I took it back to get treated like this? I spend way too much time and money (I earned and redemed around 100,ooo tickets so far) and even brought a party of 15 people in for my buddies birth day. that will be the last time that my friends and I will be back.
