O’Reilly Auto Parts Charlotte NC review – their employee recommended their octane booster for my car and it is ruined now!

O'Reilly Auto Parts Charlotte NC review

I bought the O'Reilly octane booster on advice from an employee at the O'Reilly Auto Parts on North Tryon and my car is now needing $3,000 worth of repairs!

I own a 1995 Mitsubishi eclipse and lately it’s been running a little sluggish and sounds like it’s been bogged down a little bit.  So I took it to the O’Reilly auto parts located down on North Tryon Street here in Charlotte North Carolina.   I want to the parts counter and asked the gray-haired man behind it what he thought about my car and he recommended that I use their store brand octane booster to get more horsepower and reaction out of my car.

Got yellow, cloudy and ugly headlight lenses?  You NEED to read this!

He specifically said this would clean out the gas lines in the fuel injectors in my car and that it has been proven to make cars run faster and smoother.  Plus he said they had them on sale.  He told me that he uses it personally in his car and he puts one bottle in with every full tank of gas.  He said that with his own car this is improved his gas mileage and power from his car.

Denis gas mileage would be an extra, as the primary problem with my Mitsubishi eclipse is that it’s not running like it should be.  It almost sounds like it needs a tuneup or a new set of spark plugs, but if the parts guy whom by all means is probably an expert on all things automotive says that I should use the O’reilly octane booster to get more power in reaction for my car and to clean up the fuel lines and fuel injectors then by all means that’s what I needed to do.

So I went home and the next time I filled up my car with gas I added the octane booster to it.  I followed the directions just like it said on the bottle.  It said specifically to use one bottle per full tank of gas.  And that’s exactly what I did.  I didn’t notice any difference in power or reaction of my car right away, but I did notice two things – one, it sounded a little bit louder and two, its seriously smelled of gas.

The louder sound from the engine sounded like metal rubbing metal.  And the smell of gas was really, really strong both inside and outside of the car.  A friend of mine that’s a mechanic took a look at the car and told me that the octane booster had eaten through some of the rubber hoses in the engine area which was causing gas to leak down the side of my engine and onto the road.

he also told me that the metal rubbing metal sound was that the O’Reilly octane booster bottle that I had used had somehow eaten away at something inside the engine and it now needed to be taken apart to find the cause.  He told me it was very dangerous to drive the car in this condition.  Either the engine would just die or it could a lot due to the gas leak.

To fix the car he said I was looking at probably a couple thousand dollars in repair costs.  Thanks O’reilly auto parts – your octane booster ended up ruining my engine and costing me several thousand dollars in repairs.  Do not use the O’Reilly octane booster as it is dangerous to your engine and can and will cause permanent damage.  And especially do not go to O’Reilly auto parts to ask for advice on your car – they do not know what they are talking about!

Wow, they just destroyed my vehicle too. Sold me brake fluid to put into the power steering. Damage is $2,800! Then area manager, Pat Santon at 360-261-2199 said QUOTE “Its a BUYER BEWARE thing.’ Their corporate said I should know if a product is the right one. Never mind that I’m not a mechanic and they sell BILLION os dollars worth of parts and products a year. I guess I’m the expert and they are not. I’m wheelchair bound and this has killed my job. I may lose my house. They won’t MAN UP and even supply the parts at their cost. What pussies. Thanks, O’Reillys. You should be proud of your sucky customer service. See you when I picket your local store and warn off customers. I have already obtained police approval for this.

UNCC49ERSTUDENT- I would love to talk to the “mechanic” that told you an octane booster ate your fuel lines, caused something to come loose in your engine and ruined it. If your engine was running sluggish, obviously you had an existing problem. Octane booster does just that, raises the octane level in your gas, it doesnt clean anything. Thats why they sell fuel injection CLEANER.

MARVIN-What kind of vehicle do you own? An Audi, VW and mercedes and few BMW cars, all European i might add, take pentosin fluid. which is a type of brake fluid. Most all other makes of cars use regular power steering fluid. The parts stores including oreillys all have a way to look at exactly what type of fluid goes in your vehicle. If not they have a tech line they can call at their corporate offices that can look up these facts. To say something you bought, and you installed or poured in your car ruined your engine is their fault? i think at the very least you should take it up with the manufacturer of the products. One last thing, ive delt with oreillys in the past, they have great customer service, and always are willing to go the extra mile to make things right in the event you think you got screwed. So, if they werent willing to replace your parts for you, either your case is false, or you simply didnt try. good luck to all of you HATERS hahahahahahaha
