Tornado fuel saver review – does it really increase fuel economy or is it just another scam?

Tornado fuel saver device

The Tornado fuel saver definitely did not live up to the hype and we tested it numerous times!

I happened to see a lot of advertisements showing how the tornado fuel saver was a wonderful device that could be easily installed in one’s engine for immediate fuel economy savings of several miles per gallon. Being that the price of gas right now is about $2.90 per gallon and that I do a lot of traveling and use on average $50-$80 worth of gas per week, this product, if it worked as stated, would save me a considerable amount of money each and every year.

So I purchased the tornado fuel saver online and I found it by searching for it on Google. I paid $49 plus shipping it took about two weeks to receive my order. I open up the box and found this flimsy looking metal contraption with no moving parts which kind of intrigued me and got me mad at the same time – do you have flimsy looking this thing was I immediately thought I may have been scammed.

Regardless, I was going to put it to the test and see if it really worked – even if I could only get 1 mile per gallon improvement I would eventually get my money back out of it and have a little bit of savings. So I tested it both on the highway and in the city. Both times our results were not anywhere near what the advertisements stated. I actually had negative fuel economy – what I mean by that is instead of gaining a little bit of fuel economy I actually lost a little bit of fuel economy.

On the highway I actually lost 0.5 mpg and in the city it turned out I lost 0.85 mpg. with these results I thought maybe this was a fluke or maybe it was because the air were the temperature was not optimal that day, so I ran this test several times and every time they came out with similar numbers. I never came out with any numbers that broke even or even gained fuel economy. Every time I ran this test on my car or my wife’s minivan I came out with negative fuel economy.

Now this is probably because installing this thing inside your air intake tube as directed impairs or blocks the air flow and therefore makes the engine work slightly harder.  Now to make sure it was anything wrong with my vehicles I even loaned the tornado fuel saving device out to my friends and they tried it on their vehicles.  The amazing thing was they had came up with the exact same results.  Now, their numbers were a little different, but they were all the same in that they were negative fuel economy.

No matter what we did with this tornado gas saver we could not get a positive gain of fuel economy or even break even.  So it is the opinion of this review and my tests on this product that it is definitely an over advertised product that definitely does not live up to its claims.  I later was informed by a friend that they had tested this product and similar gas saving and fuel economy type products on a TV show on the Discovery Channel called myth busters.  On the show but it proved that this product and other similar ones had no positive gain in fuel economy whatsoever – same as with my results!

In my opinion this product is a complete scam and if you check the internet by searching for Tornado Fuel Saver Scam you’ll see numerous other people are in agreement with this finding.  Save your $50 as this product is a complete waste of time and money.

I installed a similar product on my 1997 escort LX 2.0 liter split port injection single overhead cam engine and I am getting over 3 mpg better fuel milage than before. Before I was averging 33.2 mpg and now i get over 36 mpg on the hiway going 60 to 70 MPH. In the city i was getting 25.7 mpg and now I average nearly 28mpg. No this product I installed isn’t the (Tornado) but it does the same thing and I only paid $21.66 . In approx. 2000 miles it paid for itself. In my opinion this technology works. You should try it. Look for a Tornado knock off on DHGate.

We bought this product and it like totally sucked. It did absolutely nothing and I mean nothing for our car’s fuel economy. It is a 100% scam – do not waste your money! And the guarantee is worthless too. We are still waiting on a refund more than 4 months later – I doubt we’ll ever see anything.
