Circle K pantry mart complaint – this convenience store sells long expired milk and unhealthy foods!

Circle K pantry mart complaint

The Circle K on John Kirk Dr. in Charlotte NC sells badly expired milk and other unhealthy food products.

I don’t know about you but when I see something that just disgusts me I have to tell the world about it to warn other people to avoid it if possible. Well, one recent case of this is the Circle K right out front of my college on the corner of John Kirk Drive and University City Blvd. at the Circle K, all one has to do is go inside and look at the milk’s that they have for sale.

Look at the dates on them. You will find expiration dates 20 or 30 days old in there. This is milk that is so far over expired that it should not be sold anywhere, yet they are trying to sell to college students and other people at this Circle K. They also have old foods and other unhealthy or even non-edible products for sale in their store. I don’t know where they get their products and milk from, but a good guess would be that they’re purchasing it or just picking it up from what’s typically thrown out at local grocery stores and other avenues.

There is a reason that these expiration dates are put on these products – it is not healthy and is also illegal to sell them after the food product or milk has expired. Yet the folks that run the Circle K and purchase their food items for resale do not care about or even abide by these rules and laws. It’s all about profits at this Circle K and numerous other ones I’ve noticed also in the Charlotte NC area.

I have called the local health department to report them for selling expired milk and food products and have yet to hear if anything will be done about it. Over a year ago I told the people working at the Circle K about the long over expired milks and other food products that they have for sale there. They said they would look into it and that they apologized for the fact that they had expired food and milk in their store.

I have been back there several times to get gas and it is convenient because my apartment is right there on the right. I can actually walk right over to this convenience store. But each time that I go back there and each time that I’ve gone there in the past year I’ve looked at various items especially the milks and have noticed that there always way over expired.

It’s not even close. Usually the milk in the store has expiration dates that can be 20 or 30 days past expiration. That’s so expired the milk is probably curdled and not drinkable. This is a health and safety violation. The majority of customers at this Circle K convenience store on John Kirk Blvd. are college students from UNCC. So basically the management and staff at the Circle K don’t care that they’re poisoning college students all in the name of a quick profit.

They get these expired milks for free either from the garbages or employees of Wal-Mart and other places that sell milk. I think it is wrong that the staff at the Circle K sells milk thats that far expired. What they are banking on, and its quite obvious to see, is that the majority of customers do not look at the expiration date until they get home. And out of those most of them will not try and go back just to return an expired gallon of milk – it would cost them more money in gas ($3 per gallon now) or 20 to 30 minutes to walk there and walk back to their apartment.

Something needs to be done about this. I can’t stand definite wrongs like this. And apparently the local health department here in Charlotte NC doesn’t care. I have made them aware of this twice by phone and once by mail and then several times by e-mails. You would think that their job was to protect the public health and that it would include UNCC’s 30,000 College students, but apparently they have better things to do than to go chase down convenience store owners selling unhealthy and harmful foods like long expired milk.

Please tell everyone about this and spread this complaint around so something actually gets done about this.
