Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 Release Review – Issues Concerning Whether To Purchase The iPhone 4 In February

In the beginning of January, 2011 Verizon announced its release of the iPhone 4.  Verizon stated that they will be officially releasing the iPhone 4 on February 10th, 2011.  They also announced that they will be letting existing Verizon customers pre-order the iPhone on February 3rd so they can enjoy the phone before others on the Verizon network.

Some of the specs to the Verizon iPhone is the ability to have a application called Face Time.  What Face Time does is allow you to see the person who is on the other line and vice versa.  This is a great feature that will allow people to overcome long distance struggles with family, significant others, or friends.  Another great spec that Verizon changed was the antenna is in a different spot on the phone.  They have now placed the antenna on the top left side so hopefully this will reduce the signal problems AT&T dealt with.

One of the major debates right now is whether or not to even buy the Verizon iPhone 4.  The iPhone 4 is the model AT&T offers right now and is soon to be considered an old model.  AT&T and Apple have announced they will release the iPhone 5 in June or July of 2011.  Therefore the major question is to buy the iPhone 4 and be locked into a 2 year contract or to wait and see if Verizon releases the iPhone 5 in June or July.

For everyone out there who believes Verizon will be getting the iPhone 5 in June or July are crazy.  AT&T has exclusive rights to Apple and to have the same release date would be a far stretch.  I believe everyone should be safe with purchasing the iPhone 4 this February.  Another issue that is arriving is whether Verizon will continue with an unlimited data plan for $29.99.

There is rumor around the wireless community that Verizon will no longer have an unlimited data plan within the next 2 years.  This worries customers because many of us use the iPhone for many internet needed applications such as Pandora, hulu, or Netflix.

Another issue is what Verizon will charge for the Wi-Fi hotspot feature on the iPhone 4.  Many say that it will be an extra $20 a month, but Verizon has not officially announced it to customers nor consumers.  So will it be the iPhone 4 in February or will it be the iPhone 5 in June/July?  This is a major question that needs answering soon!
